Meet Kontrol Magazine's Beauty Editor

Welcome to The Lark Report . . . where fashion, beauty, style, and entertainment reside. Today we would like to introduce you to the Beauty Editor of Kontrol Magazine. Jayson Glenn. He is a multi-talented celebrity makeup-artist from Montgomery, Alabama. Let me not give you all the tea on him just yet in this introduction. Jayson's charisma and energetic spirit will be felt as you read this interview.
How did you make your way to Atlanta? I am from Montgomery Alabama and I made my way to Atlanta years ago actually modeling for Kontrol Magazine and met up with my Jeremy Dell who soon became my bestfriend.
How did you get into the beauty industry? I went to cosmetology school and got my license and degree while working under Antowan Fleeton where I learned how to do hair and makeup.
How do you prep for your sessions for Kontrol Magazine? I prep for my sessions with Kontrol Magazine by asking for the concept and direction of the photoshoot.
So what does a typical workday look like for you as a beauty editor? A typical workday as a beauty editor for me looks like the best experience anyone could imagine. I make sure all of the ideas and criteria are met as for the beauty department and at the same time focusing on my part which is delivering whats to be expected.
Are you more of a bright or a natural lipstick lover? I am more of a natural lipstick lover! Anybody can tell you i love Shanghi from the Revel cosmetics.
What is your signature finish on a client? My signature finish on a client would probably be a glossy lid. Love love love the way it brings the eyes to life.
Who inspires you within the beauty industry? Well being a black male celebrity makeup artist , I've been honored to be inspired and taught by [other] successful black male celebrity makeup artists such as Antowan Fleeton, Jeremy Dell, Sam Fine And Sir John, so I have been blessed to be able to even connect with them on that level.
What beauty trends should we look out for this spring/summer? I think everything rotates when it comes to beauty trends and i kind of feel like you should start your own trends when it comes to YOUR makeup and how YOU feel. But of course the bronze and glow will always be popular in the spring and summer.
What are the skincare tips you swear by? Actually investing in good skin care! Cleansing your face and hydrating doesn't take much at all.
For 2017, what are top two goals? Top two goals for 2017 is connecting and working more with Sir John And meeting Beyonce lol.
What are some words of advice you would give to aspiring makeup artist? Its never easy but with God first, its never impossible. - Jayson Glenn
